Lake

Theme: “The Lake isle of innisfree” By W.B. Yeats deals with the speaker’s longing for the peace of innisfree. The speaker in this poem wants to return to the island of Innisfree because of the peace which it can afford. He can escape the noise of the city and hear “lake water lapping with low sound by the shore .” On this small island,he can return to nature by growing beans and having bee hives,by enjoying the “purple glow” of noon, the sound of bird’s wings etc. He can even build a cabin and stay on the island much. Some says that the lake of innisfree may symbolize the poet’s passed youth which the speaker is unable to return.
